1. Activation through Internet connection
Activation guide will automatically contact with Microsoft servers by the Internet. If you are using the original Product Key code, which hasn’t reached available installation limit, your Product will be activated immediately.
If you are activating through the Internet, Microsoft will get your Product ID (which is different from your Product Key). You’ll receive an answer (ID confirmation), which is needed for the activation.
If you’ll try to activate product online, but you’ll not have connection, the guide will inform you that activation is not possible.
2. Activation by the telephone
TIP: form 18th january customers are notifying that if they’re making an attempt to activate the product, they’re receiving following error statement:
Microsoft is still working to solve this problem. It concerns only the customers, which do not have a MS Office subscription. In the meantime you can call the specific technical support phone numbers, by choosing your country on the MS website.
Call the activation center and activate your product with customer service representative help.
Phone numbers are different due to the licence type or you country - phone activation can last longer than the online activation.
In the activation guide choose a country or region, in which you’ll use the product
Call the activation center.
Customer help service will ask you about installation ID (it will be shown on your screen - 9 groups of 7 digits number) and other needed informations. After the ID authentication you’ll give ID confirmation.
Type the confirmation in the activation guide to the empty field in the bottom part of the screen and click Next button.
If the ID is correct, the product activation will be done.
Just like in the case of online activation, you can check the status of activation directly in Office (or one of the programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, ...):
After finishing click the “Close” button. After the restart you can work with activated MS Office.
